VAN BRIGGLE MODEL #685 LATE TEENS

This 4.5 inch bowl was designed in 1908 by Martha Patton. The "9" insized on the bottom of the bowl is a finisher's mark, not a date mark, as previously thought. This piece dates to the late teens, or the 1917-1919 period. I love the "dirty bottom."

VAN BRIGGLE 1903 MODEL #195 PEACOCK FEATHER VASE

I just purchased this lovely 1903 Van Briggle. I am so excited to finally have a piece from the much coveted 1900-1904 period of the Van Briggle Pottery, when Artus Van Briggle himself was still alive. I adore these smaller pieces.

VAN BRIGGLE MULBERRY/COBALT LEAF VASE #824, c.1910

This is the classic Van Briggle leaf vase in the early mulberry and cobalt glaze. This piece is unusual because the cobalt glaze was added second, from the bottom up. This piece is mold # 824, and it dates to the second production period, 1907-1912, when Anna Van Briggle was still the owner of the pottery company. The exact date of this exceptionally rare vase is c.1910.

VAN BRIGGLE SEEDLING BOWL, 1907-1912

This lovely little bowl is a fine example of the 2nd Van Briggle production period, at the time when Anna Van Briggle was still the owner of the company. The presence of the bowl's shape number, 681, indicates that is piece dates from 1907-1912.

VAN BRIGGLE RARE EARLY FORM POPPY VASE 1920'S

This Van Briggle form was created in 1902, but has rarely been seen in "production" form outside of David Rago auctions. Because of the classic mulberry and blue glaze colors and the clay color, this piece dates to the 1920's.

VAN BRIGGLE TINY LOTUS VASE # 194, 1907-1912 PERIOD

The dating of this piece is a little more problematic: the glaze has obscured parts of the bottom where numbers or signatures could be. The vase is shape number 194. From the clay base, the glaze, and general styling, this tiny vase can be placed in the 1907-1912 period. These dates were verified by Greg Myroth at Just Art Pottery.
